Personal Injury, Health Care & Products Liability Claims
Karl Bayer has represented injured plaintiffs as an advocate since he first started his own law firm in 1982. His reputation for professionalism has earned him the respect of both the plaintiffs' and the defense bars, and he has regularly helped parties resolve personal injury disputes as a mediator since the early 1990s.
Karl Bayer's medical negligence practice and his products liability practice both stem from his technical background. In 1973, he earned a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in biomedical engineering, focusing his studies on fibers within turtle brains. Mr. Bayer has spoken extensively about medical negligence, product liability and insurance issues at seminars for attorneys throughout the state of Texas, and he has often delivered an update about ADR in complex medical malpractice cases for the State Bar of Texas' Advanced Course in Medical Malpractice, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Litigation.
As either a mediator or an advocate, Karl Bayer has represented clients involved in numerous types of health care disputes, including controversies between health care providers, disputes between physicians and their partnerships, credentialing disputes between doctors and hospitals, and disputes between health care providers and health insurance carriers. In the Spring of 2001, he presented a paper on the developing law related to pharmacists in Texas (link to .pdf file), and he has twice served as Co-Chair of the University of Texas School of Law's Conference on Suing and Defending Managed Health Care Providers.
Karl Bayer continues to represent clients injured as a result of negligence, whether in the medical context, the products liability context, or the automobile/industrial machinery context. No matter what the case, Karl's technical background and ability to quickly understand the underlying facts, combined with his almost 30 years experience with the legal system, allow him to provide remarkable service, value, flexibility and creativity to his clients.
